Zygomatic implant
The zygomatic implant is a longer type of implant designed to attach to the zygomatic bone (the “cheekbone” area) when the upper jawbone is severely resorbed. Instead of using extensive bone grafts, the denser bone structure of the zygomatic region is used to support fixed teeth.
In simple terms: when there is a lack of bone in the jaw, the zygomatic implant uses a stronger support point on the face, allowing a fixed prosthesis to be placed with stability.
Fixed protocol
It is a technique in which 4 to 6 implants support a full fixed prosthesis, replacing all the teeth. Unlike removable prostheses, the protocol offers permanent stability, preventing shifting and providing an experience very close to natural teeth.
In simple terms: it is a set of fixed teeth supported by implants, which restor the patient the ability to smile, speak, and chew with confidence.
Dental implant
A dental implant is a biocompatible “screw” that integrates with the bone through the process of osseointegration. After this healing period, a custom crown or prosthesis is attached to it, reproducing the appearance and function of a natural tooth.
In simple terms: it’s like a new root supporting a new tooth, with a natural appearance and performance.
Who is it indicated for?
People who have lost one or more teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Advanced techniques such as zygomatic implants or combined protocols (All-on-4/All-on-6) allow the placement of fixed teeth even in cases of severe bone loss, without the need for voluminous grafts in many cases. Individualized 3D evaluation defines the best strategy.
Surgery is performed under local anesthesia and may include conscious sedation when necessary. Postoperative discomfort is usually controlled with appropriate medication and subsides rapidly in the following days.
Whenever clinically indicated, it is possible to fit a provisional fixed prosthesis on the same day or in the short term, ensuring aesthetics and function while the implants integrate with the bone.
The time varies depending on the technique and the complexity of the case. Conventional implants may require a few months of healing before the final prosthesis, while protocols such as All-on-4/All-on-6 or zygomatic implants can allow temporary teeth in the short term, with the final prosthesis after integration.
It is essential to maintain strict oral hygiene, including proper brushing, flossing or interdental brushes, as well as regular maintenance appointments. Avoiding harmful habits, such as heavy smoking, also helps to prolong the life of implants and dentures.
